Title and company.

Communication Specialist at Kissimmee Utility Authority

Give a brief explanation of your job.

As a KUA Communication Specialist, I support Corporate Communications' general operations, management, and strategic planning, including the utility's media and public relations components, event planning, community relations, and online and social media strategy. I also manage the utility's Spanish communication efforts.

How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join?

I joined FPRA in 2022 primarily because of the exceptional professional development opportunities it offers, which ensure that I stay at the forefront of the dynamic field of public relations. Additionally, FPRA networking opportunities allow me to connect, collaborate, and learn from a diverse community of PR professionals. The extensive network of members serves as a dynamic platform to foster meaningful relationships, gain insights, and explore collaborative ventures.

What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far?

I enjoyed the FPRA 84th Annual Conference because I learned many great things! Everything I learned during this conference enhanced my skills, from how AI is affecting or helping the PR industry to how to make a better approach to storytelling.

Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional).

After finishing my BA in 2014, I gained professional experience for eight years before deciding to further my education. I recently graduated with my Master's in Communication Management from the University of Southern California #GoTrojans. Despite the challenge of balancing my personal life with my full-time job, which includes numerous after-hours for community events, I successfully achieved this milestone. I'm incredibly proud of this achievement!

What was your first job?

My first full-time job in the communications field was as a press officer at the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs.

What's one fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is that when I am not in Disney, you can find me doing karaoke!
