Member PRofile: Angela B. Starke

Title and company.
SVP, Public Affairs & Community Relations - Greater Orlando Aviation Authority

Give a brief explanation of your job.
To promote the great activities and initiatives that the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority undertake and to listen to all stakeholders about how the airport can be the best community partner possible.

How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join?
I’ve been a member for almost 2 years. I joined because I want to keep pace with new industry standards and practices in an ever-changing profession.

What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far?
My favorite experience has been the support I received last year when considering the certification process. FPRA members are all very encouraging and willing to share information about their journey.

Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional).
Helping to plan the opening of Terminal C, the airport’s largest project in history, was a tremendous experience. The airport generates $41.4 billion dollars in economic impact and supports more than 300,000 jobs. It’s key to our regional economy, so beginning operations on schedule was essential and also spoke to the strength of the people who work here.

What was your first job?
Obit writer at the Gainesville Daily Register in Gainesville, Texas. It taught me how important fact-checking and details can be when telling someone’s life story. Mistakes in a loved one’s obituary are not easily overlooked.

What's one fun fact about you?
I am not a great singer but will sing every single song I know, or even think I know, during annual music award shows.
