February President’s PRoclaimer Message

By FPRA Orlando President Valerie Moses, MBA

Happy February, friends!

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the second month of 2024. I hope this month finds you well and filled with warmth, whether it’s from the love shared on Valentine's Day or the connections made within our FPRA family.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I’m excited to share that the statewide Show a PR Colleague Some Love campaign is in full swing! The holiday may be over, but you can still send a Valentine (or two or ten) to someone who has made a difference in your career. Your tax-deductible donation will help the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation fund professional development scholarships for PR students and practitioners. It’s a great way to show someone that you care, made especially meaningful by the impact it will have on future scholarship recipients. Get your orders in by February 29!

In honor of Black History Month, our chapter celebrated at the Orange County Regional History Center for a special night at the museum. It’s an important time to recognize the contributions of Black Americans to our industry and beyond. We are truly grateful to the team at the history center for the work they are doing to educate our community and to make their exhibits more representative of the people who live there. Thank you for hosting us!

We were especially excited to attend the first Quotes meeting of the spring semester, meeting student chapter members and sharing our own journeys into the FPRA world. Our student members are integral to the future of our industry, and it was such a joy to join them for their recent meeting. If you’re a student who wants to get more involved, feel free to reach out or register for any of our upcoming events!

As we focus forward in 2024, I want to thank each of you for the difference you make in our chapter. Our membership truly makes FPRA a special place. If you’re new to the chapter or haven’t been to an event in a while, don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on our board to find out how you can get involved.

Your enthusiasm and support light up our community every day. We can’t wait to keep spreading that light in the months to come!

Warmest wishes,
Valerie
