FPRA Orlando and PRSA Orlando Host PR Paid Forward

THE ORLANDO CHAPTERS OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY OF AMERICA AND FLORIDA PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION HOSTED THE 2nd ANNUAL PR PAID FORWARD ORLANDO EVENT

Local Public Relations Professionals Provided Central Florida Nonprofits with Pro Bono Strategic Communication Counsel

WINTER PARK, Fla. (Mar. 6, 2024) – On Wednesday, March 6, the Orlando Regional Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA Orlando) and the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA Orlando Area Chapter) hosted the second annual PR Paid Forward event to give back to the Orlando community by providing Central Florida nonprofits with pro bono strategic communication counsel.

“Effective communication is the heartbeat of any nonprofit organization looking to expand their impact. Through the expertise of our local PR professionals, we aim to empower each nonprofit with the resources they need to amplify their voices, engage their stakeholders and drive meaningful change in the communities they serve,” said Valerie Moses of the FPRA Orlando Area Chapter.

During the event, local public relations professionals were paired with a local nonprofit to tackle communication challenges they had, including content development, social media, media relations and more. Nonprofits included Hope Partnership, Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida, The Community Nook, Adult Literacy League, Gliding Stars of Central Florida, Write to Be Scene, Our Lessons Learned, Healthy Start Coalition of Osceola County, Step’s Foundation, Orlando Youth Alliance, Samaritan Resource Center, Paving the Way Foundation, Wedding Wish by Candyland Designs, Cornerstone Connections, Las Semillas, SNiPt and IDignity.

“It was an honor to attend PR Paid Forward. This opportunity is going to change my nonprofit,” said Lynne Kelly, Executive Director of Our Lessons Learned. “Learning from PR pros on how to tell our story is going to transform our organization and help us grow our impact in the Central Florida community.

“We were delighted to see public relations professionals from a variety of industries such as health care, education, and finance work together to help Orlando nonprofits elevate their message,” said Kimberly Devitt Brown, APR, of the PRSA Orlando Regional Chapter. “When we serve our community together, great things happen.”

In addition to receiving counsel, attendees participated in an informative session on how to unlock the power of artificial intelligence (AI) for PR and marketing communications management presented by Rebecca Emery, APR.

The event was sponsored by Rollins College, held at the Rice Family Pavilion, and the Anderson Devitt Foundation.
